Translation doesn’t take much money but being a business naturally you would like to optimize your profits and not spend more than what is necessary. There are some ways you could save on your translation budget, and some of them are outlined below.
Ways you can save on your translation budget
Use the same translation agency
Instead of approaching a different agency, you can use the same company you used before. There are some advantages in using the same translation agency, like certain discounts or the fact that you already know the people you will be working with.
You don’t have to have every single page translated. Just choose the parts that you think clients or would-be clients should know. In the same vein, at least choose only the major languages, the languages whose speakers your business will be useful to. It might be impressive to have a great list of available languages but you might just end up disappointing interested parties if you can’t cater to them in the long run.
Opt in to use translation memory
One way to save on your translation budget is to opt in for translation memory. This is really useful as it’ll allow you to use past translations into an existing job.It will cut down your total cost by alot if you have large documents.
Look for repetitions
Even though you might not understand what you’re reading, try to spot repetitions of the same paragraph in the source document. You don’t want to find out later that you have to pay for the same paragraph more than once.
It’s not a good idea to scrimp on your translation budget, but it’s not a good idea to squander it either. The money you save can go to future translation needs.
There are other ways you could use to cut down translation costs but it mostly depends on your documents to be translated. Feel free to contact one of our project managers, they will be able to help ease up on your translation budget.
